Seventy-four percent of Singaporean men wish they had sex at least once a week, but only 49 percent actually do, a recent online survey found. “Nearly half of Singaporean men are sexless, or nearly sexless. One quarter (26 percent) are already hypogonadal; 66 percent are worried about the decline in their sexual prowess, yet they are not doing anything about it,” said Dr. Peter Lim, senior consultant urologist at the Gleneagles Hospital and founding president of the Society for Men’s Health Singapore. He was speaking at a media briefing on a men’s health survey commissioned by Bayer Health Care and supported by the Society for Men’s Health and the Singapore Urological Association. He said men come to his clinic, not because they want to, but because they are forced by their wives. He added that only 1.3 percent of Singaporean men are either current or previous users of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), while 98.7 percent were never on HRT. “That’s horrible. The reason is lack of treatment awareness, or lack of knowledge about what HRT is all about.” Lim said a wife whose husband was diagnosed with testosterone deficiency syndrome (TDS) a year ago, but defaulted treatment, told him she wanted a divorce as her husband is always irritable and giving the family a miserable time. “That’s how serious the problem is, yet 40 percent think treatment is unnecessary. Some men believe they can get prostate cancer from HRT, but studies suggest that men with low male hormones are more likely to get cancer than those with overflowing hormones.” The survey targeted 400 Singaporean men aged 45 to 64 years. Interestingly, 59 percent of the subjects associated decreased sexual performance with health. Another survey conducted by the Society for Men’s Health Singapore in May 2010 questioned 1,500 men to check for the prevalence of hypogonadism. It found that 26 per cent of respondents had the condition, up from 9 per cent in 2002. In a country where a low fertility rate remains a concern, Lim said this is quite alarming. “The causative factors are crystal clear, but nobody’s taking action. Many are suffering in silence; some are secretly looking for answers in the internet,” said Lim, at the media briefing, which also launched singaporemen.com.sg, an online resource, which aims to provide Singaporean men information on TDS and tips on sexual health. Lim said men need to have their testosterone level checked twice – when they want to have babies, and in midlife. Dr. Lim Kok Bin, consultant urologist at Raffles Medical Centre, said it is not easy to diagnose testosterone deficiency. “Psychological symptoms such as irritability, depression and memory disturbances overlap with stress. These are seen in overworked men, so it’s hard to recognize the signs. Some associate these with age. But what is unique is the hot flushes and osteopenia which would come later.” “We recommend replacing the hormones through testosterone injection. It’s very convenient for patients and has no side effects. It has the advantage of [maintaining] the testosterone level in the blood for up to 12 weeks. That’s why only four injections a year are necessary,” said Lim. He added that testosterone therapy shouldn’t be purely associated with sex. “While it treats hypogonadism, it also improves bone density, increases energy level, reduces body fat and halts progression of metabolic syndrome, which predisposes men to obesity, overt diabetes and cardiovascular diseases,” Lim said. http://www.mims.com.my/Malaysia/pub/topic/Medical%20Tribune/2011-06/Local%20men%20having%20less%20sex%20than%20desired%20%20

to find them.

Although there is someone else who always makes you laugh,
your eyes and attention might go only to that special someone.

Although that special someone was supposed to have called you long back,
to let you know of their safe arrival,
your phone is quiet.
You are desperately waiting for the call!

If you are much more excited for one short e-mail from
that special someone than other many long e-mails,
you are in love.

When you find yourself as one who cannot erase all the
emails or SMS messages in your phone because of one message

Whether it is money, partners, friends or even blog subscribers, there will always be areas where other people have more than you. That isn't to say you can't become abundant in whatever you want (i.e. someone always had more money than Warren Buffett until 2008 when he was noted to be the richest man in the world).

The wanting of more actually holds a very important lesson...

Important Lesson: Just because someone has 'more', that doesn't mean they are happy. Read the biography of any celebrity and they will tell you they enjoy their process of earning money, rather than what money can do to make them happy. In other words, focus on what you love, not what the thing you love can get you.
